Nebraska Football definitely has something special in Robinson.

Although there were many negatives for Nebraska Football on Saturday, there were many bright spots as well. One of those bright spots was receiver Wan’Dale Robinson. In his first start of his career, the freshman made an impact, and showed us what we could potentially look forward to during his years in Lincoln.

Robinson finished the day rushing six times for 39 yards, and catching three passes for 33 yards, averaging 11 yards per catch. He would have had a touchdown to add to the statistics if Adrian Martinez did not miss a relatively easy throw.

Aside from all of that, he showed Nebraska Football and their fans exactly what had been advertised about him. He did a nice job of running with the football after the catch, and he excelled at fighting for extra yards. You would think that as a freshman he would potentially be nervous and a bit tentative. He did not seem to show any of that on Saturday.

Robinson looked strong and confident. Dashing his way past defenders, he gave Nebraska Football an instant spark as soon as he stepped on the field. It was encouraging to see and I believe it was what the Nebraska Football coaches truly expected. They had said during the spring that he would be a player that could both run and catch the ball with efficiency. He certainly was able to do that on Saturday.

The only complaint I had in regards to Robinson was that he was not out on the field more. During the second half, he saw more snaps. Prior to that however, he was nowhere to be found in the first half. The offense definitely needed a spark, so maybe head coach Scott Frost and the staff were saving Robinson for a time when they thought the team needed him most. For his part, Robinson knew he could help this team on Saturday. He has no issues with being a multi-faceted player.

"“I expected to do that,” Robinson said. “I go into every week knowing that I’m going to do a lot of different things from running back, receiver, kick return specialist. I expect to do whatever I have to do every week. So however much they throw at me I feel like I can take it all in.”"

He will definitely be an asset to Nebraska over the course of his career. Saturday, he gave us a taste of what he could do. I truly feel like the sky’s the limit for him. It will be interesting to see how the Nebraska Football program uses him against Colorado. They’re going to need to play their best.  Colorado is going to be a tough opponent, and a win on the road would certainly tell a lot about this team moving forward.
