Nebraska Football had to make tough decisions on Wednesday.
Nebraska Football had some big news on Wednesday but it was definitely not the good kind. Freshman wide receiver Andre Hunt and tight end Katerian LeGrone have been suspended from the team and definitely. Offensive coordinator Troy Walters made the announcement on Wednesday.
Neither LaGrone nor Hunt made the depth chart at their respective positions. If anything, they could have been considered depth pieces for down the road or if one of the major positions got hurt. Even still, this is not a good development for Nebraska Football. Especially coming right before the opener against South Alabama, this is not the type of news that you want. Nevertheless, Nebraska will have to deal with it in-house.

Thankfully, they have enough depth at these positions to make up for the suspension of these two. Who knows if they’ll be back for the team again? These positions are easily replaceable, and I would be more concerned if it was a defensive player. Even still, this is not a good sign. Nebraska has certainly had its fair share of problems this offseason, and hopefully this will be the end of any other disappointing announcements.
I was really excited to see what they could do. Although they may not get playing time right now, they could have gotten it down the road. Hunt in particular was a player that I was excited about getting the chance to watch. He had aspirations of coming in to replace Stanley Morgan Jr. Although those may have seemed a bit lofty, I certainly respect did his vision for his future. He was going to come in and work hard.
Now, all that appears to be on the back burner. For now, Nebraska Football is staying quiet with their comments about this matter. I certainly get it. They want to focus, as game day is only a few days away. That is definitely understandable.
"“I don’t want to get in to that,” Walters said. “We’re going to handle it in house. Don’t want to comment on it. I don’t want to get into all of that. They just won’t be a part of the team right now.”"
Hopefully, these two can get their problems sorted out and come back to the program. I hate to see players being dismissed. However, if their permit dismissal is what’s best for the program, I can’t fault that either. At the end of the day, the program has to do what’s best for them.
