Nebraska Football unveiled a new jersey on Monday.

Nebraska Football unveiled some alternate uniforms on Monday, kind of appropriate considering this season is already coming with a lot of hype.

The program made the announcement of their new uniforms via Twitter, and I really like them. I feel like they are not too outrageous, yet they are something that is very different than what the program has done in years past. They are certainly a change-up from the traditional white and red uniforms, and that’s something I like. It will be something different that fans can wear on Saturdays.

Yes, the defensive side of the football are the ones who carrier the moniker of the Blackshirts. However, this is a perfect uniform for what Nebraska Football is trying to convey this upcoming season. All throughout the offseason, we have heard about toughness, accountability, and discipline. The color black certainly evokes a feeling of grit and determination.

I’ll be interested to see when the program decides to wear these uniforms. Will it be against teams like Ohio State? That would undoubtedly give the uniforms and the program more national exposure. Will they unveil them at the homecoming game? That could broadcast the uniforms in front of a large audience of alumni. If Nebraska Football was smart, they would put a jersey schedule out. I’m sure they will do that, I am just impatient. They should do as much as they can to maximize the exposure of the jerseys.

Although this may not seem like such a big development to some, it certainly adds more excitement to the 2019 season. Especially under the lights, these uniforms could look great. For the players’ sake, I hope the program does not wear them on a hot day. Otherwise, it could make for fatigue during the game and a lot of water breaks.

The season is almost here, and Nebraska Football is prepping for it in a big way. The traditional uniforms are still my favorite, but these jerseys are certainly cool to look at. August 31 can’t come soon enough, and I am finally glad that the regular season is in sight.
