Nebraska Football may have found their offensive weapon.

Wan’Dale Robinson is going to be a star player for Nebraska Football in no time. That’s the sense I get from reading comments about him as fall practices get underway.

Although he is being labeled as a wide receiver, the freshman can really do it all. That is something that may be his saving grace in terms of getting ample playing time. We have seen his athleticism on display various times. Now, he looks to bring that energy to the team and work his way up towards playing time. So far, that goal is certainly achievable.

After suffering a hamstring strain during spring ball, you could say things got off to a rocky start for him. Nevertheless, he seems healthy and ready to go right now. I personally can’t wait to see what he can do on the field, as I believe his speed will be his biggest asset. If I was quarterback Adrian Martinez, I would work on getting him into open space and letting him make plays. I highly doubt that there will be many defenders who can catch him.

For now, he is giving the Nebraska Football defense a workout, something that has not gone unnoticed. With so many talented defensive players in their own right, Nebraska has certainly gotten a workout trying to guard Robinson over the past couple of days. Although his role may be undefined, there is absolutely zero doubt that Robinson will be able to make an impact for this team. Only time will tell how much playing time Robinson will get. My guess is that he will be able to see the field a lot towards the middle of the season, with his first few opportunities being to prove himself. In the meantime, defensive coordinator Erik Chinander says that Robinson will be able to give defenses fits.

"“That guy is pretty special,” defensive coordinator Erik Chinander said. “I don’t know exactly what his role is going to be or if he knows what he’s doing because I don’t coach that side of the ball, but when he gets that ball in his hands in space, it’s a problem right now.”"

When a coach on the opposite side of the football gives you props, you know you’re doing something right. Robinson undoubtedly has a lot to learn still. However, it appears he is trending in the right direction. In what is becoming a crowded receivers room, he undoubtedly is doing his best to make himself stand out with his play.
