The Nebraska Football linebacker will do whatever it takes to win.

I’m not going to lie, this quote from Nebraska Football linebacker Mohamed Barry fired me up. He didn’t say anything too outrageous. Rather, I think it is just a reflection of how this team is willing to do whatever it takes to get to the next level.

Heading into his senior season for the program, Barry will undoubtedly be looked upon as one of the top players on the roster. After recording 112 tackles last year, he looks to finish his collegiate career in style. There is no doubt that this Nebraska Football team has been extremely hyped up. From the preseason rankings to magazine covers to the news reports, this Nebraska team has a ton of expectations placed on it. I think it’s fair to place that amount of expectations on them, because I truly believe they are willing to do what it takes to get the job done. That’s not necessarily something I would’ve thought last year.

Barry is undoubtedly a leader on this team. With such a young defensive unit, he will certainly have to take control at times. I am sure there are going to be some situations where he has to lead by example. It sounds like he is ready to do that. As noted in a report by Brian Christopherson of 247Sports, he is ready to lead by example by drowning out the noise. In Barry’s case, I truly think these words are genuine and not just lip service. He has helped guide the huskers through a rebuilding stage. Now, he sounds like he is ready to take control and lead them to greater things.

"“Whatever it takes to get us into Indianapolis, man,” Barry said. “That’s what matters. If you think about stats, what it does is slows you down. You don’t know what play you’re going to make in any given down. So I’m just going hard and I’m trying to make a play. Whatever it is. If it’s going to be a sack, it’s a sack. If its a TFL, so be it. But yes, I am thinking TFL, I am thinking sack, I am thinking turnover every play.”"

I love this quote from him. He doesn’t care what his statistics are. He is just ready to tune out the noise and play at a high level. I know that may sound cliché, but what it tells me is that he is willing to do whatever he can to not only help the team succeed but help his teammates succeed. This quote tells me that Barry has been chomping at the bit to get going. I can’t blame him for that. I’m certainly ready to get the season going as well.

Mohamed Barry is locked in and ready to play. That is a great sign for Nebraska Football, and bad for the rest of the league.
