Nebraska Football has a budding star within the program.
Replacing Stanley Morgan Jr. is not going to be an easy task for the Nebraska Football program. That of course is expected. However, there are some names and emerging players who could help fill the void left by his departure.
One in particular is very surprising. Redshirt freshman Andre Hunt is apparently making noise, and could be a key factor in the offense come the fall. The Palm Dale Calif. native had a tremendous final year of high school. Playing for Paraclete High School in California, Hunt snagged 67 passes for 1,185 yards and 21 touchdowns in his senior year.

Hopefully, Hunt can bring that same level of production this season for Nebraska Football. Often, redshirt freshman get lost in the shuffle. Many of them do not even see the field. It doesn’t seem like that is going to be the case for Hunt. As a matter of fact, it seems like he is going to be very much a part of the equation moving forward. He certainly has the talent and skillset to be successful, now he just has to go in and execute.
His season could go one of two ways. He could either excel under the microscope of being a top receiver, or he could fail to rise to the challenge. Judging by the comments of offensive coordinator Troy Walters in his Sports Nightly appearance on Thursday, Hunt may be forced to do some maturing on the field a little bit. Walters expects Hunt to be a huge part of the equation at receiver.
"“Had a great spring,” Walters said. “At the end of the spring he was No. 1 on the depth chart and he was more consistent, confident and comfortable. Great hands, can run, runs good routes. So as long as he puts it all together and stays consistent, you’ll see him this fall.”"
This is certainly a big step for Hunt. You’ve heard me talk all throughout the offseason about how guys are going to need to step up. This is a perfect example of that. Guys are going to be put in situations that they have never encountered before. It’s definitely a situation where they are being thrown into the proverbial fire. However, Hunt certainly has the talent to be ready. It may involve some growing pains, but this is a step that Nebraska Football must take. It’s all part of the game, no matter how messy it may look.
