Gunnerson could end up being a tremendous get for Nebraska Football.
A Nebraska Football prospect keeps getting more recognition, this time from 247Sports. Blaise Gunnerson was rated a four-star prospect by the website. Now, he sits as the No. 124 player in the country.
That is certainly better than his three-star ranking he originally had. Even with the three-star ranking, he was thought of highly in his home state and at his position. He is ranked the seventh overall strong-side defensive end in the country, and is the second overall player in the state of Iowa per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Usually, I do not take too much stock into these types of rankings. However, the fact that Gunnerson has advanced a star says a lot about his potential. There is no doubt that his stock is rising, especially with his most recent invite to the All-American Bowl. It will be interesting to see if a four-star rating is going to be his ceiling or if he can advance that rank even higher. It all goes back to the perception that Nebraska Football’s recruiting class is not that strong. The class is very strong, it just does not feature any of the flashy names that one might expect it to. Gunnerson is the flashy name in this group, and he should be able to make an impact.
Currently, the 2020 Nebraska Football recruiting class ranks 57th in the country and 11th overall in the Big Ten. I suspect that those numbers will jump up, particularly if Scott Frost and his staff are able to add more commitments. This is a class that looks extremely solid for the future, and I sense there is a lot of blue-chip prospects in the bunch. They each have tremendous potential. Gunnerson is certainly no exception to that distinction.
This 2020 class is shaping up nicely. I have a feeling that Nebraska Football is not done with this class. There are still some areas that could be filled, and I believe the head coach and his staff will address those. Overall, the future of the program is extremely bright, and this 2020 class should figure to be a major part of that. Especially with this current group of players coming up, Nebraska will need to count on some of these freshmen quite a bit next year. It may put them in a difficult spot, but such is life in the big-time world of college football. If anything, I suspect that they will be ready for it.
