Jurgens could be a key component of Nebraska Football.
There is no doubt that the offensive line has a chance to make a name for itself. With some offensive lines, it is a matter of creating headlines as they are protecting a star quarterback. For the Nebraska Football offensive line, they have legitimate talent that should be able to make an impact both right away and in the future.
One of those names that could really stand out is Cameron Jurgens. Back in April, I said that he could be a component for the Nebraska offensive line. As media days began on Thursday, it seems like head coach Scott Frost thinks so as well. As long as he can stay healthy, it seems like he has as good a shot as any to be a key factor on the offensive line. This would be great news for Nebraska as they would certainly enjoy having depth on the line.

Measuring in at six-foot-three, 270 pounds, Jurgens is certainly not a pushover. Not only that, versatility is his specialty. He came into the Nebraska Football program as a tight end. The chances of him going back to tight end are probably slim, but it is good for him to have experience playing multiple positions. He may be able to do that on the offensive line, depending on where Nebraska needs to fill a need.
One of the big things for him will be staying healthy. Lower body injuries have been a problem for him both in high school and his Nebraska career. However, now (hopefully) fully healthy, he looks to be able to make an impact. Perhaps one of the most overlooked qualities is the fact that he can move downfield fairly easily. He did a lot of moving downfield as a tight end.
With the way this offense will be constructed, in which I imagine a lot of plays will go through the running backs, that may be a good thing. However, only time will tell. This offense has the chance to be very potent.
In the meantime, Frost indicated that he was happy with what he saw from Jurgens. Anytime you get a shoutout from the coach, your stock certainly rises. Of course, he will have to let his results do the talking. In a conference like the Big Ten, one that presents a challenge every Saturday, good results will say quite a bit.
"“When he was healthy, I saw some really special things from him,” Frost said. “I think he has a chance to be an elite player if he stays healthy and stays on the course that he’s on. It’s important for us as a team to have him, particularly with our need on the interior of the line.”"
Health will be the big thing for Jurgens. If he can do that, he will have a tremendous shot at being a key player for 2019. He has all the intangibles to be successful. Now, he just needs to prove himself. The big question mark will be his health, but other than that, nothing should stop him from being successful.
