The future is bright for the Nebraska Football defense.

It seems like the freshman of the Nebraska Football recruiting class are already making an impact. This is a very special class, one that should help anchor the Nebraska program for years to come. Particularly defensively, they seem strong and they have a multitude of skill sets that offers much-needed balance to the unit.

In particular, four guys are garnering attention from secondary coach Travis Fisher. Myles Farmer, Quinton Newsome, Noa Pola-Gates and Javin Wright are the players that Fisher seems to be holding in high regard. I really like the potential from all four of these guys. In particular Pola-Gates is a player that I could see being able to come in and make an impact right away. The fact that the coaches are already seeing something special in these players is a testament to the recruiting of Scott Frost and the coaching staff.

They should be able to make preseason camp interesting. I get the sense that this quartet is comprised of smart, physical football players. It is always good to have physicality in the secondary, particularly in the Big Ten. Game in and game out, Nebraska Football is going to be tested. This group of players seems like they are up for the challenge. They should be able to fit into the gritty team identity that it appears head coach Scott Frost is trying to create.

Speaking on the Husker Sports Nightly show on Tuesday, Fisher thought that all four could make an impact right away. I would certainly love to see all of them on the field, as I think they bring a tremendous amount of physicality and versatility. They should certainly be able to fill the gaps left by the departing seniors, especially after the upcoming season. In what will probably be a rebuild of sorts on the defensive side of football, these four should be able to make the transition rather smooth.

"“All four of those guys are guys I’m ready to throw in the fire right away,” Fisher said on “Sports Nightly.” Fisher said all four players were raised well by their parents and are “willing to come in here day after day and work and have the support back home that we see eye-to-eye in case things start to go the other way.”"

It seems like the quartet has a great support system around them, and it sounds like their parents are on board with what the coach is trying to do. Especially for a freshman group, that is key. Too often, freshmen get caught up in college life and things may go south at times. It’s all part of growing up. However, these four hopefully will be busy with school and football, as they figure to be a big part of the defensive equation for years to come.

Nebraska definitely lucked out by landing these four. They are talented, and it appears like they are ready to work and play hard.
