The Nebraska Football tight ends certainly have the size to compete.

For basically the entire offseason, I have been questioning the depth for Nebraska Football at tight end. Sure there are a lot of bodies at the position, but is there enough production at the spot? At least for right now, tight ends coach Sean Beckton is impressed with how much size he has at the position.

Although production is a huge part of playing football, size, especially for the position, is important too. At the very least, if none of these guys can catch, they can at least be effective blockers. With the running backs that Nebraska Football currently has, that could be important too. We’ll just have to wait until training camp to see. This is one of the positions that could be very much a wildcard for the upcoming season. Hopefully, it is a wildcard in a good way.

Travis Vokolek is six-foot-seven, 265 pounds. Katerian Legrone is 6-4-3, 235 pounds. Jack Stoll is six-foot-five, 235 pounds. There are certainly no undersized players at the position. When looking at this offense and how pass-friendly is going to be, I think that’s a good thing. An undersized tight end would give Nebraska Football a disadvantage. They are going to have their work cut out for them to begin with, and they don’t need something that can be avoided to be their downfall.

Depending upon what type of skills they bring to the table, they can also be a matchup nightmare for defenses. It’s not easy to formulate a  plan to cover guys of that size. If anything, they should be able to give defenses fits. Of course, that is going to depend on the type of production they bring to the table. If they bring nothing, then Nebraska is going to be in trouble.

Beckton did an interview Thursday night on the “Husker Sports Radio Network” and offered praise for his unit. He is certainly going to have a lot of potential to work with. Now, it just needs to be about results. I think results will come with time. This is a unit that is still very raw in  skill. I certainly have high hopes for it however.

"“We’re just thrilled to have some of these monsters that I’m going to have for a long time here in the program,” Beckton said, “and we’re really, really looking forward to adding another addition to what we’re trying to do in the program offensively.”"

Maybe Nebraska Football will use the tight end position after all. It seems like they are trending in that direction. It will be interesting to see how the unit does, and how they factor into the offense. One thing is for certain, they will have the size and strength to get it done.
