It is great to see the Nebraska Basketball alum playing well.

It is safe to say that former Nebraska Basketball forward Isaiah Roby is representing the program well in the NBA. Now a member of the Dallas Mavericks, Roby is tearing it up in the Summer League. It is certainly great to see, as he is a solid basketball player who works hard and does his best to make plays.

I have said that I wasn’t sure what type of player Roby would be in the NBA. It looks like we are getting a clue as to what type of player he is. Granted, this is only Summer league, but it seems as if Roby is passing his first test quite nicely. On a team full of youth, he should fit right in with the Dallas Mavericks and help accomplish what they are trying to do. Right now, is all about development for that organization. With that in mind,  I could see them making the playoffs in the next couple of years.

More from Husker Corner

Roby, who struggled at the beginning of Friday’s game, redeemed himself. He scored a game-winning 15-foot shot with 24.5 seconds remaining to help pad Dallas’s lead and give them a 96-90 to win. He finished with 10 points, four rebounds, and a couple of blocked shots.

If there was one particular knock on him for Friday’s game, it was his efficiency. He went five-of-12 from the field. As a Nebraska fan however, I was happy to see him get a bunch of shots up.

In Saturday’s game, he was the second-leading scorer for the Mavericks. In 25 minutes of play, he went six-of-11 from the field and one-of-four from the three-point line. He also recorded seven rebounds, three assists, two steals, and two blocks, finishing with 14 points. If anything, Saturday night was more of an accurate representation of what he can bring to the table. He has a tremendous all-around game that should be able to translate to the NBA.

It’s nice to see him making his mark early. Granted, he still has a lot to learn as do all of the other rookies in the league. However, if he is able to just stick to what he does best, get open looks, and make shots, he will be able to be very successful in this league. He showed that type of poise and ability to come up big in key moments. His leadership and skill will definitely be missed next year.

Three records that can be broken in 2019. dark. Next

Hopefully, Isaiah Roby can keep up this solid level of play. One thing is for certain: he has already made Nebraska Basketball proud.
