The commitments just keep rolling for Nebraska Baseball.

Nebraska Baseball landed another big commitment on Wednesday as 2019 outfielder Drew Mackie committed to the program. He made the announcement on Twitter earlier in the day.

Mackie, who is from Missouri, is the 14th overall player in the state, and the second overall outfielder from the state per rankings from PerfectGame.org. It is also worth noting that he plays third base as well according to his profile. He was originally committed to Texas Tech.

This just adds to the solid string of commitments that the Nebraska Baseball program has been getting. Not only have they been getting commitments, they have been getting players that should be able to make an impact.

Not a ton is known about Mackie statistically, but if he is ranked so highly in the state of Missouri, that can only mean good things. I can’t wait to see how his skills translate to the collegiate level, and I am happy that he is going to be taking on this journey for the Nebraska Baseball program.

This is a roster that could look entirely different come next season. Sure, there will be your staple players. With such a large freshman class from last year, some are bound to see the field next season. However, I sense that the culture will be a little bit different than the previous coaching staff. That is not to say the culture was bad within the last staff, but each coach has their own individual style.

It’s interesting that this Nebraska Baseball coaching staff is taking such an aggressive approach with recruiting. They are not recruiting players who will fill in certain roles. They are aiming high, and going after the best talent they can find. I give them credit for that, because this is not a roster that needs tremendous overhaul. It would have been easy for them to patch up some holes and consider that a job well done. Will Bolt and his staff want to form a Nebraska Baseball program that can be competitive right now.

In-state recruiting is the way to go. dark. Next

I give them credit for that. They are trying to instill a winning culture, and letting people know that they are not just going to be on autopilot. They want to succeed. Mackie is certainly a player that can help them do that. He is tremendously talented, and I can’t wait to see exactly how he fits with this Nebraska baseball program.  Something tells me he will fit just fine.
