Nebraska Basketball has some exciting travel itinerary ahead.

The Nebraska Basketball team is slated to play some overseas hoops in the coming weeks. According to a report from Brian Christopherson of 247Sports, Nebraska Basketball will be in Italy from August 3-13. Of course, they will have an opportunity to see all the sights Italy has to offer. In addition, they will be playing some basketball.

It is a rather action-packed slate of games. They will face Stella Academy on August 5 and Italian Select on August 12. They then will face Silute  BC on August 7 and 8. They will play two games against Silute, which will wrap up their trip.

I like the sound of the team traveling abroad. Many teams have done it, and the reviews have been nothing but positive. Especially with a ton of new guys, this could be a great trip for the Nebraska Basketball team to get to know each other. There is going to be a lot of competition and moving parts over the next couple of months, so to have a team bonding trip like this is essential. It will certainly give everyone a chance to get acclimated with each other. Having a close team before even stepping on the court can only bode well for the rest of the year.

There should be some great basketball here as well. Many of these international teams are quite talented. This is certainly not going to be a throwaway trip with easy competition. This will give the Huskers a chance to play as teammates, while playing against some of the best the world has to offer. It will also tune them up for the start of the regular season. A little extra practice never hurt anyone.

My guess is that there will be a lot of tinkering during these games. This will give the coaching staff a chance to see what type of talent they have, and the best lineups to put on the court in certain situations. Who knows, this trip could give the Nebraska Basketball coaching staff a chance to see what a starting lineup could look like. That would certainly be a helpful outcome.

Furthermore, this gives everyone, players and coaches, a chance to use this as a benchmark for the upcoming season. They can use this as a reference point to discuss things they did well, or things they need to do better. This trip to Italy should certainly be a positive one and I can’t wait to hear about the results from it.
