The excitement continues to build for Nebraska Football.

Football season is getting closer. The date for Nebraska Football Fan Day was announced on Tuesday, and that means that the upcoming season is right around the corner. The event is scheduled for August 1 from 5:30-7:30 PM at Memorial Stadium. It coincides with the day the football team reports for the start of the season. Practice is the next day.

This year’s Fan Day should come with a lot of buzz attached to it. This offseason has been a busy one for Nebraska Football, as they work to improve on their record from last year. Between their work ethic, the hype surrounding quarterback Adrian Martinez, and the slew of new recruits coming in, this should be a Fan Day like no other. For some fans, this may be seen as a formality. After all, the first practice begins the following day, and following the first practice, the countdown begins towards the start of the regular season.

Being from the Massachusetts area, I always went to Boston College for my college football fix. I have been to many of their Fan Days over the years, and it is a lot of fun. You can definitely sense the excitement in the air, and there is the realization that a new team is about to begin play before our very eyes. It’s truly a fun feeling, and I’m sure Lincoln will be abuzz with excitement.

There is a notable change to Fan Day. People wanting to meet Scott Frost will not have an easy time of doing it. According to a report from the Lincoln Journal Star, only Nebraska JV Team members will be allowed in the autograph line for head coach Scott Frost. The JV Team is the Nebraska kids’ club and is open to anybody in the eighth grade or younger.

For those not in the JV Team category, those wishing to meet Scott Frost will be determined on a first-come-first-served basis. Those decisions will be made at 4:30 PM on the day of the Fan Fest. If anything, I wouldn’t look at this as a negative. It is more a testament to the passion of you, the fans. With his energy and enthusiasm for the game of football, I am not surprised that Frost is in such high demand. Hopefully, you all will get to meet him.

With the announcement of Fan Day, that just makes me realize that the 2019 addition of Nebraska football is getting closer. I am excited, and I will certainly be following along throughout the day. Cheer loud, be proud, and go Big Red!
