Conn was another big pickup for the program on Monday.

Nebraska Football concluded a wild recruiting weekend in style. Monday, 2020 three-star offensive tackle Alex Conn committed to the program.

Conn is the 57th overall tackle in his class and the ninth overall player in the state of Kansas. The 24Sports crystal ball was right in their prediction, as they had him going to Nebraska. Conn was widely recruited and was held in high regard throughout the entire country. In addition to Nebraska Football, Oklahoma State, Arizona, Iowa State, and Kansas all  extended offers to him.

What can Conn bring to Nebraska Football? For one, he can clear space with ease. He uses every bit of his six-foot-six, 280 pound frame to gain the advantage over his man. I could see him being a very good run-blocker. Over the next couple of years, that is exactly what Nebraska is going to need. They have a bunch of running backs that offer a variety of skill sets. Now, they just need to make sure they find players that can block for them. Conn certainly fits that mold, and his toughness should work out well for him in Lincoln.

After what was a slow start, the 2020 class for Nebraska Football is beginning to pick up steam. They are ranked number 72 nationally, and have the 12th overall class in the Big Ten per the 247Sports Team Rankings. Although those are not impressive numbers right now, I would expect that number to increase. Scott Frost has shown that he is not done recruiting, and has seemed to place a particular emphasis on the offensive line.

At the beginning of the summer, I was worried about how the Nebraska Football 2020 class would look. Things appear to be going in full swing, and that is certainly an encouraging sign. Conn definitely is another player that could be a staple of the class. Him and Turner Corcoran are two players that could anchor the line for years to come. Both of them possess tremendous talent.

His value may be tough to quantify since the offensive lineman position isn’t one that is measured necessarily by statistics. However, Conn is just another example of a player who should be able to step in and make an impact right away. I can’t wait to see what he can do on Saturdays, and I think he will be able to make a name for himself. Kudos to Frost and his staff for getting another big commitment.
