Nebraska Football landed another commitment on Sunday.

In what was a very busy weekend for Nebraska Football in terms of recruiting, their efforts paid off. They landed a commitment on Sunday from 2020 three-star cornerback Tamon Lynum.

Lynum is not ranked in the 247Sports Composite rankings but he holds the three-star designation in the regular 247Sports rankings. For Nebraska, he was recruited by Travis Fisher and Sean Beckton. Lynum had a bunch of smaller offers on the table. East Carolina, Kansas, Bryant , and Coastal Carolina all extended offers his way. It is safe to say that Nebraska was definitely the biggest program out of those schools.

Most recently, his recruiting activity included an offer from Illinois on May 7, and an offer from East Carolina on May 13. He took a visit to East Carolina on June 14, before visiting Nebraska on Friday. With the official commitment coming on Sunday, it is safe to say that he has had a very busy couple of weeks.

What can he bring to Nebraska football? He has excellent coverage skills and it does a nice job of reading the ball once it is released from the quarterback’s hands. At six-foot-two, 195 pounds, he is the perfect size in order to be a cover corner. It allows him to possess speed, and that will definitely come in handy at the collegiate level.

This is the first defensive commitment in the 2020 Nebraska Football recruiting class. Currently, the class ranks 77th overall and 13th overall in the Big Ten per the 247Sports Team Rankings. It is important to recognize that this class is very incomplete, and this class should fare better with more commitments. I really like the direction that this class is headed in, and it should only get better from here on out.

Lynum told 247Sports that he likes the family atmosphere of Nebraska Football. This seems to be a common theme coming back from all recruits who have visited. I give credit to head coach Scott Frost and his staff for creating a welcome environment Especially in an industry where you deal with a ton of egos and fluidity, that family environment can be hard to create at times. He said back in May that he liked the environment of the program.

"“The Nebraska offer really touched me,” Lynum said. “I had been praying for a power-five offer for the longest time, and God blessed me with my first one. I love Nebraska, the fan base, everything about it. I would fit there style. They also like long tall corners who can move, and I feel like I’m the piece that they have been looking for.”"

I’m excited to see what he can do at the collegiate level. I think he’ll be a tremendous asset to a defense that already has many tremendous playmakers. Especially in a time where football  favors offenses more and more, having capable defensive players is key.
