Manning has the type of playstyle that would benefit Nebraska Football nicely.

Nebraska Football is said to have some big-time prospects visit Lincoln in the coming days. One of them is a wide receiver target with a tremendous amount of pedigree. Omar Manning, who originally committed to TCU, is set to visit the Cornhuskers ($) in what should be a busy weekend of recruiting.

As a recruit, Manning  was the seventh overall wide receiver, and the third overall player in the state of Texas per the 247Sports JUCO Composite rankings.

A three-star recruit and a member of the class of 2020, Manning caught 15 catches for 302 yards and four touchdowns over the course of 10 games. Averaging 20.1 yards per catch, he certainly is a big-body receiver. At six-foot-four, 220 pounds, he definitely would fit the big-bodied, playmaker type of role at receiver.

He would be able to give Nebraska a sure-handed receiver who is not afraid to go up and make the catch. In watching his film, he was very confident when jumping after jump balls, and had very solid mechanics in terms of bringing the ball to this body and going down. He is not the fastest receiver you’ll see, but he is a player that can get yards after the catch. He is a possession receiver in every sense of the word, and that play style will certainly get you far in the game of football.

Nebraska Football has a ton of speed at wide receiver, but they don’t have a lot of size. Manning would be able to help with that. It is important for an offense to have a bunch of dynamics at their disposal. Manning would certainly bring a toughness and grit element to the wideout group. Especially with such a young group to work with, that is certainly not a bad thing to have. Hopefully, his visit goes well as this is going to be a big recruiting weekend for the Cornhuskers.

Next. 2020 linebacker could be Barry replacement. dark

Manning would certainly be able to play right away, and I expect him to find a solid role wherever he goes. Hopefully, he is able to call Lincoln home. Nebraska Football needs a receiver of his caliber, and he could be an additional red-zone threat. His type of play style would fit well in the Nebraska offense and he would give them another dynamic that they could use to confuse opponents. I may be getting too ahead of myself, but it is certainly fun imagining the types of things they could do with Manning in the offense.
