Nebraska Baseball is continuing to round out its coaching staff.

It seems like Twitter may be the official news source for  things these days. According to his  Twitter account and multiple media reports, Lance Harvell is coming to Lincoln as an assistant coach. He made the announcement on Tuesday.

Both head coach Will Bolt and Harvell served on the same staff at Texarkana College. Harvell then made stops at Louisiana and Sam Houston State. He achieved tremendous success at both those places. Louisiana finished the 2014 season with a 58-10 record, a school record and the most wins in the history of the Sun Belt Conference.

At Sam Houston State, Harvell was a recruiting coordinator for the program for six seasons. He was held in high regard, and he put together tremendous recruiting classes for the Bearkats during his time there. He was named the top recruiting coordinator in the Southland Conference in 2016 by D1Baseball.com. It seems as though he has a knack for building programs. That could work out very well for Nebraska.

Harvell will instantly make this Nebraska staff better. His experience and winning pedigree is going to translate very well to a program looking to reestablish its identity. The fact that he has worked with Bolt before also works in his favor. They already have some familiarity with each other, and I think that should translate well. If I had to guess, I would say that he will be responsible for trying to put together the first couple Nebraska baseball recruiting classes in the Will Bolt era.

I’m excited to see what the rest of the staff will look like. I would have to think that more coaches are coming soon. Lance Harvell is a big get for this Nebraska program, because it  gives them experience as well as pedigree. Having another established coach in the ranks should bode well for Nebraska Baseball moving forward. They need stability in a time of transition and new faces. Harvell will be able to provide that for them. I see him being perhaps one of the strongest coaches on this staff.

It seems like the Nebraska Baseball program is coming together quickly. That is a great thing for the Huskers moving forward. This may not be as bad a transition year as some may think. There is at least a blueprint for success. I certainly give Nebraska Baseball credit for trying to put together a staff that can help them win right away.
