Nebraska Baseball may have another coaching hire on the way.

As Nebraska Baseball gets ready for a new coaching staff, we have an idea of what the rest of the staff may look like as coaching hires are gaining clarity. According to multiple media reports, Lance Harvell may join Bolt’s staff.

In looking at Harvell’s Twitter profile, he has already added in “University of Nebraska Baseball Coach” to his bio. Now, nothing is official, but that is definitely a good indication that he will be coming to Lincoln soon. If he wanted to keep it a secret, he would definitely not have posted it on social media.

Harvell is the recruiting coordinator and assistant coach at Sam Houston State. During Harvell’s tenure with the Bearcats, they won three out of the past four Southland Conference titles. NCAA Tournament appearances in 2016 and 2017 also added to an impressive resume for Harvell.

This seems like a logical choice. With Harvell’s background as a recruiting coordinator, Nebraska Baseball could benefit from that. Nebraska Baseball already has a ton of talent on the team. However, Bolt will need to bring in some of his own players of course when recruiting comes around. It will be interesting to see what players he brings in during the offseason. The players that he recruits will probably tell a lot about his style as head coach. Harvell should be able to help with that.

Bring in someone with tremendous baseball pedigree like Harvell has is a great move. Bolt already possesses pedigree himself, and that should be able to help a Nebraska program that is on the rise. It will be interesting to see who else fills the Nebraska coaching staff. Hopefully, they will be hires with experience and a winning track record. I would hate to mess up the chemistry that this team already has.

With any luck, the coaching staff will be focused on pitching. Athletic director Bill Moos has already made it clear that he wants that to be a focus. Harvell should be able to help with that mission. I’m excited to see what he could potentially bring to the table.

Next. Bolt wants toughness to define team. dark

Nebraska Baseball will probably round out their staff in the coming weeks, and I’m curious as to who the other names will be. Harvell is certainly a good addition to the program (once confirmed by Nebraska, that is.) This could be a very good staff for the program moving forward. I would not anticipate any major hiccups next season.
