Nebraska Football seems to have an inside track to Ford.

Nebraska Football continues to recruit hard, and that sentiment has been echoed in the way recent recruits have talked about their visits to Lincoln. As the summer begins, recruits are taking visits and making choices as to where they want to play college football.

A recruit currently in that situation is 2021 weak-side defensive end Travion Ford. Measuring in at six-foot-two, 205 pounds, Ford is a highly-touted prospect. He is not ranked in the 247Sports Composite Rankings, but is highly regarded in the 247Sports overall rankings. In the overall rankings, he is a four-star linebacker. He is ranked the 43rd overall player in his class, the fifth overall weak-side defensive end and the top player in the state of Missouri. Ford certainly has a lot of pedigree to him.

More from Husker Corner

Playing at Lutheran North High School, he has attracted a lot of attention from some of the top programs in the country. In addition to Nebraska, Ford also has offers from some of the top programs in the country. Alabama, Florida State, and Iowa are just some of the names that have extended an offer his way.

What could he bring to the table for Nebraska Football? He brings versatility. In his most recent high school season, he recorded 82 tackles, 17 sacks, and four forced fumbles. He did it all, and was a game-changer on defense. He can bring the same type of play style to Nebraska, as they will be looking for a game-changers in the coming years. Mohamed Barry, perhaps the team’s best linebacker will no longer be in Lincoln. They will need a playmaker that can fill the void left by Barry’s departure. Ford could be that guy.

He likes the feel of Nebraska, and praised its “personal” feel to Mike Schaefer of 247Sports.

"“I was given a personal tour of the campus by coach Chinander and Kenny Wilhite,” he said. “The dorms and facilities are very nice. It meant a lot for Coach Chin to take time out of his busy schedule to give me that tour.”“I’ll definitely be back,” Ford said. “Can’t wait. Nebraska balled out at the Michigan State game I attended. The energy in that locker room after the game with Coach Frost’s speech was great.”"

I like the fact that Ford feels so comfortable at Nebraska. Hopefully, that will translate to a commitment down the road. He could be very successful in this defense, and he has the athleticism to keep up with the speedier offensive players in the Big Ten conference.
