Nebraska Football will be hosting Simon this weekend.

Nebraska Football is said to have a big visitor on campus this weekend. 2020 four-outside linebacker Cody Simon is scheduled to visit Lincoln in what would be a big get for the staff.

Currently playing football at St. Peter’s Prep, Simon is ranked the 155th overall player in his class, the 11th overall outside linebacker, and the fourth overall player in the state of New Jersey per the 247Sports Composite rankings.

His college list is rather long, and he has several schools that have extended him offers. According to the 247Sports Crystal Ball, he is thought to be favoring Notre Dame. Nevertheless, Nebraska Football is doing their best to try and land him. He is  being recruited by inside linebackers coach Barrett Ruud.

What could he bring to Nebraska Football? Measuring in at six-foot-one, 218 pounds, he brings speed. I’ll say he has the speed of a defensive end. It is very clear when he plays that he has one mission. That mission is to get to the quarterback. He would give Nebraska a mobile defensive player who could make an impact in a hurry. It’s important in a defense to have a balance of both size and speed. Simon would definitely add to the speed factor.

With the visit scheduled to come on Saturday, I am excited about Nebraska’s potential to land him. Now, I do not have any inside information. However, whenever a prospect comes to visit Nebraska Football, they have nothing but good things to say about the program. With the way Scott Frost and his coaching staff have been recruiting, landing Simon would not be out of the question.

However, with offers from both Ohio State and Notre Dame, this may be a difficult commitment for Nebraska. At least they are getting him to Lincoln and giving him an idea of what the program is like. It is better to have him come to Nebraska and not commit, then to miss out on any potential opportunities by not getting him to Lincoln at all.

I am curious to see if Nebraska Football can overtake Notre Dame and Ohio State for this commitment. This would be a major upset in terms of recruiting, and that would definitely be another victory for the Nebraska Football program. If he doesn’t, that would certainly be disappointing, but this is not a make-or-break recruit for Nebraska. They have shown that they are capable of filling any necessary holes in the roster.
