Nebraska Football will have a busy season in 2019.

Five kickoff times were announced on Thursday as Nebraska Football gets closer to kicking off the 2019 season. It is hard to believe as it feels like yesterday, I was trying to dig out the snow out of my driveway. Nevertheless, the season is almost upon us and we finally have an idea of when some key games will occur.

I am most excited about the Northwestern and Iowa games. Nebraska Football will play Northwestern on October 5 at 230/3 PM Central Time. My guess is that because it is Homecoming that day, festivities might occur prior to that. Nebraska Football will take on Iowa November 29 at 1:30 p.m. Central Time. For those who can’t make it,  the game can be seen on the Big Ten Network.

In total, this is a promising slate of games for Nebraska in terms of national TV. The opener which will take place at home against South Alabama will occur at 11 AM Central Time on August 31. ESPN will carry that game. Although South Alabama is not exactly a juggernaut opponent, I will be tuning in simply to see how the 2019 addition of Nebraska Football kicks off the season. After so much buildup during the offseason, I am eager to see what this team is made of. My guess is that we will not be disappointed.

The  slate of games that were announced on Thursday are as follows. I am liking how much national TV exposure Nebraska Football will be getting. In particular, I really like the one night game so far on the schedule. I always love watching college football at night, as the lights make the game seem that much more special.

Aug. 31—South Alabama at Nebraska, ESPN, 11 a.m. CT
Sept. 7—Nebraska at Colorado, FOX, 2:30 p.m. CT (1:30 p.m. MT)
Sept. 14—Northern Illinois at Nebraska, FS1, 7 p.m. CT
Oct. 5—Northwestern at Nebraska, TBA, 2:30/3 p.m. CT (Homecoming)
Nov. 29—Iowa at Nebraska, BTN, 1:30 p.m. CT

Of course, there could be more nationally televised games throughout the season especially if Nebraska Football plays well. After all, the major bowl games and conference championship games are on national TV as well. Although it may be a bit too early to predict that, one can dream, right? I certainly wouldn’t put it out of the question with the assembled talent the Cornhuskers currently have. However, “One game at a time” should be the motto from here on out.

Football is almost upon us once again. I am extremely excited to get things underway and I am even more intrigued as to how the rest of the schedule will turn out. Chances are, more day games are headed our way which is good for tailgating and overall fun on Saturday afternoons. I can’t wait, and I know many of you are excited as well. It should be a fun year and if all goes according to plan,  it will be completely different from last year in the best way possible.
