Nebraska Football made a great impression on Winfrey Saturday.

As I reported earlier in the week, Nebraska Football was hosting talented defensive lineman Perrion Winfrey. He took his visit on Saturday, and it is worth noting that it was an unofficial one. In any event, it is safe to say that he enjoyed his visit.

Winfrey included Nebraska Football in his list of top eight schools on Sunday. In an Instagram post, he put the Cornhuskers among the likes of Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma, Texas, Penn State, Oregon, and Florida State. He also spoke of them very highly on Twitter.

That is certainly a loaded group of teams  and Nebraska Football will certainly have their work cut out for them. As they have shown before when it comes to recruiting, they can certainly rise to the challenge.

The positive reaction to his Nebraska visit can only mean good things for the program down the road. Obviously, with so much at stake, he is not going to badmouth any program he visits. However, given the Cornhuskers recent track of success in terms of recruiting, this is something I would take to heart. Especially considering the fact that he said he would come back to Lincoln to visit, this is certainly a player that Nebraska Football fans should keep an eye on.

I would prefer that he took another visit in-season, just to see what the program is all about. If I had to guess, that is probably what he would do anyway. Truthfully, that is when the real fun will begin for Nebraska Football, unless of course he commits before the start of the college football season. Once he (in theory) visits all the colleges in-season, then he will be able to get a better idea of what each one has to offer.

He could certainly be a tremendous asset to Nebraska Football, and could very easily become Scott Frost’s biggest recruit in terms of talent from the junior-college ranks. This could also potentially start a pipeline at Iowa Western down the road. We have seen Nebraska Football take in several talented junior-college players so far this offseason, and although time will tell during the regular season if they can be effective, there is no doubt that the pedigree of those prospects is very promising.

It is just another day in Lincoln for the Nebraska Football program. If Winfrey comes back, my bold prediction is that they will be able to seal the deal. That would certainly do wonders for a rising program.
