In-conference success

This may seem a bit obvious, but in-conference wins will be key to having a successful 2019 season. In particular, I would look at two specific games. October 5 against Northwestern and November 29 against Iowa are two games I would have on my radar. Depending on how the season plays out, those two in particular will be nice tests in order to dictate the flow of the season.

No matter what situation you’re in, or what type of players you have, you have to take care of in-conference games as a team. The program was 3-6 in the Big Ten last year and they certainly left room for improvement. Not only is it important for the team right now to win these games, it is also important for teams down the road. If Nebraska Football can build a tradition of doing well in-conference, that will certainly be able to help with recruiting and possibly sway commitments down the road. Nebraska Football would be able to use their successes as recruiting pitches. It’s not like the program needs any more help, they have done very well recruiting. However, it is a possibility.

If Nebraska Football wants to play in conference title games come December, they need to take care of business in conference. Obviously, you want the team to aim for January and those bowl games or even the National Championship. However, perhaps I’m getting too ahead of myself. They need to be able to take care of business during the regular season. At the very least it lets their in-conference opponents know that Nebraska Football is not a team to look down upon. Setting a precedent would certainly do wonders for the program.
