A stout defense

A stout defense is going to be very important for the Nebraska Football program in the 2019 season. Led by new defensive coordinator Tony Tuioti, the Huskers will have a new look. They certainly have the players to be able to make an impact on defense. Now, they just have to show it.

Undoubtedly, there will be some growing pains when it comes to this defense. Anytime there is a new style or new players involved, there are bound to be mistakes and things that should be done better. The problem is that Nebraska Football plays in a conference where teams will take advantage of mistakes. They need to focus on being sound from the get-go. This team has a nice mix of veterans and newcomers in order to make things succeed. From veterans like the Daniels brothers to the talents of Noah Pola-Gates and Jackson Hannah, there is a little bit of everything on the defense. The combination of veterans and younger players should be a nice balance for that side of the football.

I do not think there’ll be a ton of growing pains because I think in the end, the team has enough talent to be able to succeed. However, a stout defense is definitely a key to have a successful 2019 season. To be honest, the bar is not set especially high. The team allowed 440.7 yards per contest last season. That needs to change. I think that definitely can change in 2019.
