Nebraska Football is set to host Winfrey this weekend.

Nebraska will be hosting a very special visitor this weekend. According to multiple media reports,($) the team will be hosting Iowa Western Community College defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey this weekend. A member of the class of 2020, Winfrey could help add additional depth to the defensive line.

Currently, he is unranked in the  247Sports Composite Rankings, but he has a bunch of offers on the table and the amount of them is continuing to grow. In addition to Nebraska, he also holds offers from Alabama, Arizona, Baylor, Florida Atlantic, and Florida State.

More from Husker Corner

With the amount of veteran talent Nebraska Football has on the defensive side of the football, it may seem silly to be recruiting a defensive tackle right now. However, come the 2020 season, the Davis brothers and Darrion Daniels will have graduated from the program. Those are certainly not easy spots to fill, and the impacts will certainly be felt. If they can land Winfrey, he could add that physical presence that the trio above will be taking with them.

He had 27 tackles and four sacks and 11 games played last season for Iowa Western. In addition, he forced a fumble.

To me, this is a guy that can do a little bit of everything. He can go after the quarterback, but he can also make the sure tackle when needed. Measuring in at six-foot-five, 306 pounds, I see him fitting best as someone that can stop the run for Nebraska. They will certainly need that in the coming years, and his role would probably be similar to the one that the Daniels brothers will occupy.

Nebraska Football needs to strike while the iron is hot. They have been putting together nice classes over the course of the past couple of months. Adding Winfrey to the 2020 class would undoubtedly strengthen the defensive line. It would give them additional depth on the line and also give them a player that could become a hallmark recruit of the 2020 class. Defensive coordinator Tony Tuioti could do wonders with him and make sure to accentuate all his strengths. That would be the best case scenario, as Winfrey has many of them.

Next. Realistic 2019 season goals. dark

We’ll have to see how the visit turns out this weekend. If all goes well, Winfrey could be a number of the Nebraska Football team in short order. He could certainly find a home here and become one of the more impactful defensive lineman during his time in Lincoln,
