Nebraska Football: Ndamukong Suh should fit well with Bucs
The Nebraska Football star is off to a new destination
A Nebraska Football alum found a new home. After spending last season with the Los Angeles Rams, Ndamukong Suh finally found another home on Tuesday. It was only a matter of time, as Suh passed the regular free agency period and was one of the many players looking for a deal. Now, he is a Tampa Bay Buccaneer, as he signed a one-year deal with the team according to multiple media reports.
The former Nebraska Football star had a productive season with the Rams in 2018. He played in 16 games starting all of them, forcing four fumbles and recording 4.5 sacks. He also proved to be very apt at tackling as he recorded 59 on the year. With 19 quarterback hits, that marked his most in a season since 2015, when he played with the Miami Dolphins.

Of course, last year’s numbers weren’t nearly as impressive as some of the statistics he has recorded in years past. In his rookie year of 2010, he recorded 10 sacks, 65 tackles, and 17 quarterback hits. One of the more notable seasons of his career, besides his rookie campaign, came in 2012. Recording eight sacks and 32 quarterback hits, he started in all 16 games and proved to be a tremendous force on the Detroit defensive line.
He has made five Pro Bowls to this point in his career including a string of three straight from 2012-2014. His most recent Pro Bowl was in 2016 with Miami. He recorded five sacks and 72 tackles in what was a great year. Now, he looks to bring that same type of defensive play to Tampa Bay, who shipped out defensive tackle Gerald McCoy on Tuesday.
Much has been made of his previous on-the-field antics. I certainly see why, as he has not put himself in easy spots at times. However, from a just a pure football standpoint, there is no doubt that he is one of the most effective run-stoppers and pass rushers in the National Football League. Although his numbers have tapered off a bit, he still is someone that offenses fear.
He should be able to help Tampa Bay stabilize the defensive line. At six-foot-four, 305 pounds, he still can be disruptive particularly, if he clogs up a running lane. He is certainly a good replacement for McCoy and should be able to penetrate offensive lines to get into the backfield. that’s what he has done in his entire career and did so well for Nebraska Football. I wish him nothing but the best.
