This is great news for a Nebraska Football program that has been eagerly awaiting his arrival.

Some very good news came Nebraska Football’s way on Saturday. According to a report from Sean Callahan of Rivals.com, running back Dedrick Mills is scheduled to come to Lincoln next week.

There was an issue with his GPA, but he took three courses this semester to replace grades in order to meet the 2.5 GPA requirement. With the rest of the freshman reporting on May 19 for Nebraska Football, Mills is entrance could not come at a more perfect time. Now, he will have time to learn the playbook.

This will give a tremendous boost to the Nebraska Football program. They have several running backs in the fold already, but his veteran experience and proven effectiveness in collegiate play will be a tremendous boost. With Devine Ozigbo gone, they certainly need a veteran player at the position.

Mills was the number one ranked junior-college running back in the country after rushing for 1,358 yards and 19 touchdowns last season.

This is a huge boost for the Nebraska football program. All offseason long, the status of Mills has been in question. Many have been wondering when he would come to the program, and how much of an adjustment period he would have to suffer before he caught up with the rest of the players. It looks like he won’t have any adjustment period whatsoever beyond the usual getting used to new surroundings.

This just as another weapon to an already potent Nebraska offense. It provides them with depth and the opportunity to have another explosive player at a key position. This Nebraska Football offense is tremendously well-rounded, and I expected to improve once the rest of the players get to Lincoln next week. Then, the real fun begins as position battles come into focus.

This is great news for Nebraska as  Mills should be able to provide a tremendous spark. He has shown he can do it at the collegiate level, and I would figure him to be a huge part of the offense. This makes the life of the offense much easier and allows quarterback Adrian Martinez to have a security blanket in case the defense is tough on the receivers.  Having Mills in the backfield will be fun for Nebraska and will certainly be fun to watch in the fall. Right now, he has to survive training camp and I would expect him to turn some heads within the program
