This has been a great week for Nebraska Basketball.

Nebraska Basketball continues to recruit at a rapid pace, and not only are they recruiting quickly, they are accumulating talent. Wednesday night, they landed another talented player. Samarai Curtis is set to join Nebraska after his original commitment changed coaches.

Cincinnati was his original destination, but he decided that Nebraska Basketball will be better for his collegiate career. The guard played at Xenia High School and measures in at six-foot-four, 180 pounds. He was a stud for Xenia, averaging 34.4 points per contest and 5.8 assists during his senior campaign. He was Mr. Basketball in the state of Ohio as he totaled 2,109 career points over a decorated high school career.

He first committed to Xavier in February 2018. There was a coaching change there as well, which is why he left for Cincinnati. Now, he looks to find a permanent landing spot in Nebraska.

This has been an incredible week for commitments for the program. Not only are players committing, they are bringing talent with them as well. It is impressive how Coach Hoiberg has revamped the roster in such a short period of time. I am very excited to see what this team has in store for the coming years.

What can Curtis bring to Nebraska Basketball? For one, he is efficient in his shot selection. He shot 50% from the field and 33% from the three-point line for Xenia. It seems like he can score in multiple ways, which is important in today’s game. Especially being efficient from the three-point line, that will translate well both in the collegiate game and in the NBA game if he decides to go pro. Right now, he is set to leave his mark for Nebraska Basketball.

Currently, Nebraska Basketball is one name over the scholarship limit. However, if Isaiah Roby remains eligible for the NBA Draft, the program would remain even in that number. He has until May 29th to finalize his decision. That sets up for some more wild weeks for the Nebraska Basketball program.

Are we having fun yet? I certainly am, as writing about all these commitments makes me excited for what’s to come. To be honest, I wasn’t sure how things would work out with Hoiberg’s hire, but now I am seeing that he has a plan and is putting it in motion. That should be able to allow Nebraska the opportunity to be successful. I could see them making the NCAA tournament within the next year or so.
