Nebraska Basketball is on a roll.

Nebraska Basketball landed another commitment late Monday night. This time, it was 2019 power forward Kevin Cross who pledged his allegiance to the program. Measuring in at six-foot-eight, Cross has that size that Hoiberg and his staff have been looking for.

In addition to Nebraska, Cross also received offers from Oklahoma State, Illinois, and Southern Mississippi.

Looking at his statistics, he is a scoring machine. This is something that the Nebraska Basketball coaching staff has seemed to make a priority with the players they recruit. They want players that can put the ball in the bucket, and Cross is no exception. He is an extremely efficient scorer. Playing for Mills University Studies High School, he played and 30 games in the 2017-18 season. In that time, he averaged 14.9 points per game to go along with 6.8 rebounds per game.

In total, he played in 31 games (as covered by MaxPreps) and finished with 14.9 points and 6.8 rebounds per contest. This is yet another guy who I think can make an impact right away.

The first thing I thought of when I heard this commitment was “Isaiah Roby replacement.” Cross is the exact same height at the exact same position. In my opinion, and again this is just my opinion, this all but ensures Roby is going to the professional ranks. Although that is disappointing in the sense that Roby is a good player and he could still be of use the program, Cross will be a very good replacement. His 63% shooting percentage is also something that sticks out to me. Recording that number in the 2017-18 season, this falls in line with what the Nebraska Basketball coaching staff is trying to do recruiting -wise. They want efficient shooters on their roster, and Cross certainly fits the bill.

dark. Next. Takeaways from program rebuild

This is another huge get for a program that continues to be on fire recruiting-wise. Nebraska Basketball has made it clear that they want to win now. Hoiberg and his staff have done a nice job of recruiting impact athletes and it seems like every recruitment they touch turns to gold. With this surrounding out the roster, now we can have a better idea of what the roster looks like. So far, it looks very good. I feel very confident in this team moving forward. They certainly have the potential to make some noise in the Big Ten next season.
