This will definitely be a new-look Nebraska Basketball program come the fall.

Another Nebraska Basketball player has entered his name ($) into the transfer portal. Forward Brady Heiman, who provided a bit of an impact last season, will be the third player to enter the portal sense the firing of Tim Miles. With so much talent coming Nebraska basketball’ s way over the past couple of days, this does not come as a complete shock.

Heiman only played one season with Nebraska Basketball. He did not exactly like the world on fire last year as a freshman, scoring 1.8 points per contest. Initially heading into the off-season, I thought he would be a building block for the program. However, head coach Fred Hoiberg has made it clear that he wants to bring his players into the program. He has certainly brought in some talent already, and that is making things look good for the program long-term.

More from Husker Corner

Heiman’s best game for the Huskers came on December 5. In 15 minutes, he went four-of-four from the field and one-of-two from behind the three-point line. Scoring nine points, he also tallied five rebounds. That was certainly a good start to the season for him, and I thought that may lead to bigger things. However, he just could not seem to get into a groove as a large veteran presence on the team was perhaps the reason why.

He certainly has the size to play in  big-time college basketball games. Measuring in at six-foot-11, he would definitely be an asset to a team that needs some size at the forward position. It’s unusual to have a forward who is that tall, but he can definitely make it work. He is still young, and has his best years of college basketball ahead of him.

As result of his transfer, Nebraska Basketball now has two open scholarships for next season. It will be interesting to see what they do with those scholarships. Whether they try to add another veteran presence, or they go hard on the recruiting trail, they now have more options to choose from. I kind of expected this transfer, it seems like many of Tim Miles’ players want a fresh start. It makes sense, and I can’t blame them for it. Many players only come to certain programs because of the coach, and it appears that Nebraska Basketball is no exception .

Whatever the case may be, I wish Heiman nothing but the best. Hopefully, we will see him on the court again very soon.
