Nebraska Football: Tremendous talent will be on the way in short order
Nebraska Football will be welcoming the rest of the team soon.
This summer should be fun. Usually in the grand scheme of the college football world, summertime is boring. School is out, there’s not a lot going on, and the inevitable waiting period before the season begins sets in. However, Nebraska Football can’t wait until summer.

There is no doubt that there are many talented players on Nebraska Football’s campus right at this moment. As spring practices come to a close, there have been a lot of positives to take away from the past couple of weeks. The spring game really showcased that and it allowed everyone to see perhaps some of the more underrecognized names. In hindsight, it was good for the underrecognized names to get their work in. There are of ton of talented players set to join the Nebraska Football program later this summer.
As noted by Parker Gabriel of the Lincoln Journal Star, ($) several of the biggest names on the Nebraska football program are set to hit the ground running beginning May 20 . The list is quite large, and it should provide additional pieces for Nebraska Football to be successful come the fall.
"As of now, the Huskers have 20 more scholarship players joining the roster: four offensive linemen (Bryce Benhart, Michael Lynn, Matthew Anderson and Jimmy Fritzche), four defensive backs (Noa Pola-Gates, Myles Farmer, Quinton Newsome and Javin Wright), four defensive linemen (Ty Robinson, Jahkeem Green, Ethan Piper and Mosai Newsom), three running backs (Dedrick Mills, Rahmir Johnson and Ronald Thompkins), two inside linebackers (Garrett Snodgrass and Jackson Hannah), two receivers (Demariyon Houston and Darien Chase), and outside linebacker Jamin Graham."
That is certainly a lot of names. Let’s be honest, I am excited to see all of them come to Lincoln. However, I will be watching the running back group the closest. Them and Noa Pola-Gates should be able to provide a jolt to this Nebraska program. I was fired up when Pola-Gates decided to come to Lincoln and I am excited to see what the running backs can do. By no means am I discounting the other players. They should be able to help out as well. If you think about it, it is like an entire roster is still waiting to hit the gridiron.
There are certainly going to be a lot of moving parts when they come. With all the talent Scott Frost and his coaching staff have available to them, it will be interesting to see how they manage it. This is certainly a lot different than last year, when the head coach was still feeling things out. He will be feeling things out, but he will have an idea of what the Nebraska Football program is like. He’s been with the players for a season now, and he knows their strengths. He knows the type of team he wants to build.
Now, he will be feeling things out with a talented class that he helped build. It’s exciting to see the names on this list because I truly believe that they will be able to help out the program. There isn’t a bad name on that list. Frost and his staff did a nice job of identifying needs. This perhaps more than anything else is just a reaffirmation that he is the head coach for the future. This is his recruiting class. He and his staff built this entirely on their own.
It sounds crazy, but I almost want fall to be here. Lincoln will be alive soon enough and Memorial Stadium should be host to some great games this year. In essence, the journey begins in May. Then, all the pieces should be able to come together for what should be a very successful year.
