Damian Jackson

Damian Jackson is a great story. A sophomore from Nevada and a former Navy SEAL, the 26-year-old has taken a bit of an unorthodox path to major college football. Nevertheless, he wants to make an impact for Nebraska Football and I certainly am excited that he did so on Saturday. Coming into a spring where he has had time to adjust to his surroundings, Jackson should be able to find playing time on this roster.

He certainly helped his case on Saturday. In a spring where he has worked hard, he saw the fruits of his labor come together. He had five tackles and two sacks which equated to a loss of 9 yards combined. He played on a White team that featured some of the more unheralded players. He certainly made his presence known, flying to the football and having a great day overall. This was certainly a lot different than when he got in the game for two series in the team’s 45-9 win over Bethune-Cookman on October 27.

If he can build on what he did on Saturday, he should be able to be in a good position come the fall. Granted, this defensive side of the football looks stacked for Nebraska. Nevertheless, he has certainly seen his stock rise over the course of this spring. At the very least, he should be able to see more than two series come the fall.
