This is a huge development for the Nebraska Basketball program. We have already seen a couple of prospects decommit from the 2019 class, and Fred Hoiberg is undoubtedly going to have to work hard at recruiting players to the program. Currently, Green and forward Akol Arop make up the 2019 recruiting class. Although it is not a ton to work with, it is definitely a good head start.
Green is a playmaker that can beat you in many different ways. He reminds me of James Palmer Jr. in that regard. He is a good passer, can drive to the hoop, and at six-foot-three, he has ideal size for a shooting guard. He is the type of player that you can build the program around. He may have to fill that role sooner than he thought as Nebraska Basketball will certainly have some work to do in order to rebuild the roster once again.
It will be interesting to see how Nebraska Basketball plans to fill out the rest of the 2019 class. It’s not going to be a huge overhaul. At this stage in the recruiting cycle, Nebraska should mostly focus on what they have to work with. They certainly have a lot of talent to work with and Nebraska Basketball should certainly be excited to have Green and Arop in Lincoln. I’m excited to see what both of them can do, and in particular Green should be able to make an impact right away.
Green is the type of player that can set forth a winning culture, which could lead to greater things. He could become more than just a basketball player for Nebraska. He could become a cornerstone that could drive the program and Fred Hoiberg to heights not seen in quite a while. I’m definitely getting ahead of myself here but it’s fun to dream. In a couple years, Nebraska Basketball should be able to be among the top programs in the Big Ten conference.
