Nebraska Football certainly had a great day on Saturday and Corcoran’s commitment added to it.

Obviously, the big news on Saturday was the Nebraska Football spring game. However, something bigger happened that may have even made the spring game take a backseat.

Offensive tackle Turner Corcoran committed to the program in what was a huge get for Scott Frost and his staff. Corcoran is the 55th overall player in his class, the sixth overall offensive tackle, and the top player in the state of Kansas per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

More from Husker Corner

Corcoran’s primary recruiter was offensive line coach Greg Austin while running backs coach Ryan Held did the secondary recruiting. They certainly have to be given credit for their efforts, as Nebraska Football beat out a bunch of top schools for the lineman’s services. Missouri, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, and Tennessee were just some of the teams vying for Corcoran.

What does Corcoran bring to the table for Nebraska Football? For one, he is a bully. Measuring in at 6-foot-6, 280 pounds, he will do anything to make sure he clears a lane for the running back in the running game. Conversely, that style of play certainly helps the quarterback in the passing game. That type of aggression he plays with will certainly suit him well. Especially in the big 10 conference where there are several elite defenders, Nebraska Football will need to protect the quarterback at all costs.

Per his 247Sports profile, his NFL comparison is Philadelphia Eagles offensive tackle Lane Johnson. Given the success that Johnson has had with the Eagles, that is a great comparison. If Corcoran can turn out anything like Johnson, Nebraska football will be in business.

This undoubtedly strengthens the Nebraska Football 2020 recruiting class. With three commitments, including two of the four-star variety, the class ranks No. 31 nationally and eighth overall in the Big Ten per the 247Sports Team rankings. Obviously, it would be nice if Nebraska Football could beef up that class a little bit, and I think he will see that happen fairly soon. Especially with the type of momentum Nebraska Football has in terms of recruiting right now, they might as well keep the good vibes rolling.

It was a huge day for Nebraska Football in more ways than one. Having Turner Corcoran a member of the program will strengthen offensive line depth for years to come. This is another great get for head coach Scott Frost and his coaching staff and they should be excited about what this young man will be able to do.
