Nebraska Football  is lucky to have Daniels.

There is no doubt that the Nebraska Football program has talent on the defensive line. There is also no doubt that Nebraska football has a talented coach in defensive line coach Tony Tuioti. Together, the pair should make for an interesting season for the Cornhuskers.

One player who has been generating a lot of buzz this season, and rightfully so, is sophomore defensive tackle Damion Daniels. He figures to be a big part of the Nebraska football defensive line along with his brother Darion. Together, they should be able to create an unstoppable force and give opposing offensive lines nightmares. So far, Damien has caught the eye of Tuioti who praised him to the media on Saturday.

The coach described Daniels as a “”a guy that commands four hands.” Teams can try to single block him if they may, but the coach thinks that will prove a mistake on their part. “He can control A-gap to A-gap, and in our 3-4 scheme you got to have that type of player … There’s a place for big guys like that on the defense, especially when you want to stop the run … and it’s hard to find those guys.”

It is tremendous that the coach views Daniels in this way. To me, this means that Nebraska Football has a player who can be a disruption on the defensive end. He should be able to make life miserable for opposing offenses. He did not exactly put up tremendous numbers last season, but they were certainly a starting point for this year. As a freshman last year, he did not get a ton of playing time. Even still, he made the most of his opportunities. His best game statistically came in the 45-9 rout of Bethune-Cookman on October 27. In that game, he recorded four tackles, three of which he assisted on.

He should be able to be a huge part of the Nebraska Football defensive line next year. Only a sophomore, he still has a lot of room to grow. As long as he keeps up his tremendous work ethic during spring ball, that should set them up for success this season. The fact that there are so many playmakers on the defensive side of the football for Nebraska also takes pressure off of Daniels. That way, he can just go out there and play his game when given the opportunity.

Something tells me that he will be getting opportunities early and often. According to the most recent depth chart from OurLads.com, Daniels is penciled in as the second nose tackle behind Carlos Davis. It will be interesting to see where he will end up following practices in August. Wherever he ends up, it seems like he is in a prime position to make an impact this year.
