The Nebraska Basketball 2020 class took a hit.

As a new era for Nebraska Basketball gets underway, that is certainly going to lead to some roster turnover. On Thursday, Nebraska saw it firsthand. According to a report from Donna Ditota of Syracuse.com, Mika Adams-Woods reopened his recruitment.

He had been a Nebraska Basketball commitment since last September. He met with Coach Hoiberg before making a decision to reopen his commitment as noted by his high school head coach head coach Gallagher Driscoll. The six-foot-three point guard has been a reliable scorer for the New Hampton School in New Hampshire. He has averaged 19 points, 6.2 rebounds and 4.5 assists per contest in the 2018-19 season. That is certainly a great year. Hoiberg has been calling commitments and recruits since he was hired on Tuesday.

"“Any time there’s a coaching change, the new guy who comes in didn’t recruit him,” Driscoll said. “He just feels like he wants to see if there’s any other options out there. He’s still interested in Nebraska. He liked everything Coach Hoiberg has told him. But if it doesn’t work out, I’m sure there will be other schools that are interested.”"

This could be a huge loss for the 2020 Nebraska Basketball recruiting class. In addition to Adams-Woods, the class already had two commitments.  Jervay Green becomes the next question mark  as it remains to be seen whether or not he will stay for the fall. On Wednesday, it was reported by the Omaha World-Herald that Green had a positive meeting with the coach.

"“It was great,” Nebraska signee Jervay Green said of his meeting with Fred Hoiberg in a text Wednesday night. “I like Coach Hoiberg a lot.”"

With the decommitment of Adams-Woods, Green needs to stay with the program in order for this class to be successful. If Nebraska Basketball loses out on him, they are in a bit of a bind moving forward. Green is the undoubted staple of the class, and if they were to retain him, that would ease the blow of losing Adams-Woods a bit. With how much roster turnover there has been following this season, Nebraska Basketball needs to have a player that can make an impact in order to be competitive. The Big Ten is not a conference that you can just throw a roster out there and hope for the best. You will get beaten rather soundly.

It will be interesting to see what other developments happen with the Nebraska Basketball roster. There is no doubt that they’re going to have to fill some holes before the fall. That will give Coach Hoiberg a chance to put his stamp on the team. I personally can’t wait to see how it all pans out. It may be able to yield positive results when all is said and done.
