Nebraska football made the top-10 list of tight end Kole Taylor, who is ranked as one of the top tight ends from the 2020 recruiting class.

Like every team, Nebraska football is on the lookout for impact players on offense in when it comes to the 2020 recruiting class one of those guys at tight end is Kole Taylor.

Taylor, who is a three-star tight end from the state of Colorado, is ranked 10th overall at his position according to the 247 sports composite rankings and 11th according to the 247 sports rankings on their own.

Both sets of rankings have the 6-foot-6, 225-pound tight end listed among their top-500 players and on Friday, he released his list of top-10 schools which just so happened to include Nebraska football.

One thing that is clear is that Nebraska is going to have a lot of competition for Taylor, just within the Big Ten Conference as Penn State, Iowa and Michigan were among the teams listed in Taylor’s top 10. Some of the others were Colorado, Cal and LSU, as well as West Virginia and Oregon.

All in all, it’s a wide mix of teams but it would be a tremendous addition for the Huskers who haven’t really had an elite tight end in a long time. Jack Stoll is a solid player, don’t get me wrong, but he doesn’t strike fear into the heart of defenses the way Taylor potentially could as a 6-foot-6 target in the passing game.

Scott Frost has brought in a tight end in each of his first two recruiting classes but Taylor would be the best of those guys and with his size, he could definitely create some matchup problems.

Of course, we all know the success that Iowa has had developing tight ends, so the Hawkeyes could make a strong case for Taylor to choose them since they are also a top-10 contender.

For now, Nebraska football should be pleased that it’s still in the mix because it sounds like there is a way to go with Taylor and that gives the Huskers plenty of time to persuade him.
