Trueblood leaves his mark

March is the time where some lesser-known players can make their mark for a program. Thursday, that was the case for Johnny Trueblood. After having played only 37 minutes all season prior to Nebraska basketball’s game against Iowa on Sunday, he has shown up this past week and played some of the best basketball of his Nebraska career. Thursday was no different as he managed to play a huge role in victory.

With Nebraska basketball already playing shorthanded, Trueblood came off the bench and delivered. In 25 minutes of action, he scored five points collected four rebounds, and tallied two assists. Those are not numbers that are necessarily going to make headlines, but  he provided a much-needed spark off the bench. He was on the floor Thursday, diving for loose balls and fighting for second chances, something that was a theme for Nebraska basketball in general. Trueblood was a spark plug for them.

They will need his help on Friday against Wisconsin. Wisconsin is a tough team that can compete with the best in all of college basketball. They are also a  team that has pedigree and experience. They have played deep in March before and they are not afraid of any opponent. Trueblood among others will have to step up and show that he can continue to compete with the big boys.
