In the regular-season finale and on senior day, Nebraska basketball pulled off an incredible comeback and earned an upset win over Iowa.

For much of the game against Iowa Sunday afternoon inside Pinnacle Bank Arena, it felt like the Nebraska basketball team was going to battle only to fall short.

After all, it’s what has happened so many other times this season and when the Huskers were trailing by nine points with 50 seconds left, there didn’t seem to be much hope.

However, a 3-pointer by Glynn Watson as well as two more from James Palmer changed all of that. Amir Harris made two free throws and after another triple from Watson, Nebraska basketball trailed Iowa only by one, 80-79.

The Hawkeyes made 1/2 free throws and on the other end, Palmer found a way to get free driving towards the basket and made the contested layup to tie the score at 81-81.

A defensive stop sent the game to an extra frame and there Palmer assisted on a hoop and threw down an emphatic dunk as Nebraska went up by two. The Huskers fell behind for a moment, but 1:34 left in overtime, Watson hit again from deep.

The Hawkeyes battled back to tie it, but with 10 seconds left, freshman Amir Harris, who was salty all game, scored with 10 seconds left in overtime to give Nebraska an incredible 93-91 win.

Amazingly, over the last 50 seconds of regulation, Nebraska outscored Iowa 16-7 and during that time, seniors Palmer and Watson combined for four 3-pointers. By the end of the game, they combined for 50 points as Palmer finished with 27 and Watson wound up with 23.

Isaiah Roby, who is a junior but could leave for the NBA draft also had a solid outing while wearing the jersey of senior Isaac Copeland in what could be his final game. And seeing as how Nebraska is 13th in the Big Ten and 16-15 overall, it might have been Tim Miles final game too.

If it was, for all parties involved, it was nice to see them walk off their home floor with a win one last time. Palmer and Watson have both been great players and even though this season didn’t go as planned, it was nice that they gave Nebraska basketball fans one last great memory with the win over Iowa.

Making a run at the Big Ten tournament would be nice, but if that doesn’t happen, there will always be the dramatic comeback win over Iowa.
