Three things Nebraska needs to succeed in Big Ten Tournament
They need to give maximum effort
Nebraska basketball showed tremendous effort Sunday. Not only did they show tremendous effort, they show tremendous effort throughout the entire game. It was truly one of the more exciting games that they have had this season and they played like they really wanted to win. Especially in overtime, where players can get tired and energy can get low due to fatigue, the Cornhuskers showed the exact opposite. They kept playing, diving for loose balls and trying to get the extra possession. It was fun to watch and that type of energy has been missing in some contests the season. If they want to make some noise in the Big Ten tournament, they need to show that energy throughout the entire game.
Of course, there were some holes on Sunday. Nebraska basketball fell behind in certain situations. With the way the season has gone, it would have been very easy for them to throw in the towel. However, they showed that on senior day, they would fight to the bitter end. That’s exactly what they did. They fought hard, and even when the was lead seemed insurmountable at times, they persevered. The confidence with which they shot the basketball was very impressive.
Right now, any team in the Big Ten tournament be a viable threat to win it all. Just looking at the heavyweights of the conference, Purdue, Michigan, a Michigan State all present a challenge. If Nebraska basketball wants to go toe-to-toe with those types of teams, they need to give maximum effort every time they step on the floor. Anything less will be a guaranteed early exit and a viewing party from the couch. They need to dive for loose balls, make the extra pass, and play team basketball if they want to be able to play deeper into March. It’s essentially a brand-new season, what do they have to lose?
