A comfortable Miller will be a helpful assert to Nebraska Football.

It’s one thing to write a piece and hype up a player and say that he is going to have a big year. It’s another thing when that big year actually appears like it might happen. That could be the case for Nebraska football linebacker Collin Miller. After bouncing around from position to position last season, it appears that he may have finally found a home. This could only mean good things for Miller and the program moving forward.

It probably wasn’t the easiest thing to have to keep changing his position. With new linebackers coach Barrett Ruud taking over the reins at the time, it was an adjustment period for Miller and coach alike. Now, Miller will have the opportunity to go into his junior year with a chance to really make an impact. He will need to with the departures at the position.

It was not as if he had a bad season last year. He put up admirable stats all things considered. In nine games, he recorded 17 tackles including one for a loss. Ever sense he has arrived in Lincoln, Miller has shown he can make an impact.

He had a great season as a freshman in 2017, playing in five games and recording 11 tackles in that span. He also recorded a fumble and showed a bit of what the future of the Nebraska football defense could be like. However, Nebraska football still had the likes of Luke Gifford and Dedrick Young. Their play led the way at the position for the majority of the season as expected. They were solid players who represented Nebraska football well.

Now, Miller will look to take that next step. As noted by Peter Gabriel of the Journal-Star ($) , Miller definitely feels more comfortable with the pace of the game. During practice, the Nebraska football offense certainly gives him a challenge due to its pace and fast-moving capabilities. Miller seems to be ready for the challenge. Perhaps even better, he’s learned from his mistakes.

"“Everyone’s looking at you and everyone’s like, ‘What’s the call? Hurry up,’” Miller said. “It’s fast. Our offense goes fast, so that means you have to get the call fast, you’ve got to make the call fast. You’ve got to project it loud enough, but also you’ve got to worry about your technique, everybody else’s technique and what they’re supposed to do. You could say I was swimming (last year) a little bit. Where I am now, I learned from it, I watched my mistakes from last year, I’m working on my mistakes that I did with my footwork.”"

The saying that a new season means a fresh start sounds cliché. However, that is exactly the scenario for Collin Miller. Now a veteran member of the defense, he will have to be able to make big plays and be able to capitalize on opportunities he has for Nebraska football.
