Devine Ozigbo shows he is no flash in the pan
By now, you I have seen Stanley Morgan Junior’s results at the combine. Being the only Nebraska football player at the combine, he certainly represented the program well. However, he was not the only Nebraska player that should have been there. Devine Ozigbo should also have gotten a nod to the combine, but unfortunately he did not.
Thus, he had a combine of his own so to speak as he was part of Nebraska football’s Pro Day. He was able to put up numbers that certainly strengthened his case for being drafted. According to a report from Parker Gabriel of the Lincoln Journal Star, Ozigbo ran a 40-yard dash in the 4.5 second-range, which is certainly admirable. He bench pressed 19 repetitions and tallied a 37-inch vertical jump. Those are not numbers that are going to be the best we’ve ever seen, but they are certainly numbers that he should feel confident about.
Admittedly, he does not know where he will be drafted. He has said teams have been impressed with the way he can move his feet and catch the ball out of the backfield. Gone are the days of ground-and-pound running backs. Now, it seems that you have to have a running back that can catch the ball in order to keep up in today’s offensive-minded National Football League. I think his skills will translate very well, and it seems like he is coming out of the collegiate ranks at just the right time.
