Henrich could start next to Mo Barry at ILB
Another guy that could make an immediate impact on the Huskers defense is the top in-state prospect in 2019 for the Huskers Nick Henrich.
At 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds, Henrich is a top-150 recruit for Nebraska football and is another guy that enrolled early, which should help him catch up with his competition. Obviously, Mo Barry is going to start at one of those inside linebacker spots, but after that, it’s pretty wide open.
Collin Miller and Will Honas both played snaps inside last year and each put up similar numbers. Miller had 17 tackles and a tackle for loss, while Honas had 15 tackles and a tackle for loss.
Those guys, if they can take a step forward may be able to hold off Henrich and lock down the starting job, but they are going to have to earn it. Henrich is a really solid prospect and a kid that looks ready to play right away.
We will find out during the spring but if he looks close to even during spring ball with Miller and Honas, then expect the freshman to overtake them by the time fall camp rolls around.
