Fights for playing time

When it comes to this Nebraska football team, there are a number of openings on both sides of the ball. When it comes to the offense, the Huskers are going to be without their starting running back from last season, their top pass catcher and multiple starters on the offensive line.

Wide receiver is going to fascinating to watch. JD Spielman is going to be the No. 1 guy — there is no question about that — but who joins him on the field is an open question.

Guys like Mike Williams, Jaron Woodyard and Kade Warner are all candidates, but so are incoming freshmen like Nance and potentially even Robinson. There is also going to be a battle at running back, although not everyone in that fight will be practicing this week.

Battles along the offensive and defensive lines will be something else to keep an eye on as both units have a bevy of candidates all vying for playing time.
