Seniors will step up

If Nebraska basketball is going to make a run down the stretch, then three guys will need to be the driving force behind it and those guys are James Palmer, Glynn Watson and Roby.

In the last two wins, which at least kept the Huskers in the hunt, they have all done their share. Against Minnesota, Palmer scored 24 points and hit two free throws late to win the game.

In terms of Watson, his game has dramatically improved the past two outings. In the previous four games, the senior point guard had just 15 points total and was 6-of-37 from the field. So no wonder Nebraska didn’t win any of those games.

But against Minnesota, Watson finally got things going. He made six field goals, which was equal to his makes over the previous four games and he hit twice from 3-point range to finish with 19. He also scored 12 points, hit two 3’s, grabbed six rebounds, had two steals and two assists in the win over Northwestern.

For his part, Roby was lights out against Northwestern Saturday, finishing with 19 points, 16 rebounds, five blocks, two assists and two steals. It was his second double-double in the last four games and Tuesday, against Stevens, one of the best forwards in the Big Ten, Roby will be at his best again. The question is, will it be enough?
