The seniors stepped up again
If the Huskers were going to turn this season around, some guys were going to need to step up and with no real options off the bench or anywhere else, it was up to the senior class.
The reason people expected Nebraska basketball to make the NCAA tournament was guys like Watson, Roby and Palmer. Watson and Palmer both game up big against Minnesota and Palmer even sank two free throws in the final seconds to win the game.
Against Northwestern, Roby was the trigger for Nebraska basketball and he was the best player on both ends of the floor. His defense was outstanding on Derek Pardon, who finished the game with 13 points but made just 5-of 12 shots. Pardon got 12 rebounds but also it turned it over four times too.
Roby didn’t have a great shooting night either, making 7-of-19 shots but he blocked five shots and forced two steals. Offensively, his three 3-pointers were huge. Watson also stepped up with 12 points but more importantly, he only had one turnover.
Palmer, Roby and Watson are going to be the key to Nebraska doing anything down the stretch and over the past two games, they have started to take their game to another level.
