Nebraska hung tough on the boards

It’s not a huge secret that Nebraska isn’t a great rebounding team but if the Huskers were going to beat Minnesota, they needed to keep the Gophers off the glass and for the most part, Nebraska was able to do that.

When the game was over, Minnesota still managed a 31-27 advantage over the Huskers on the boards and while that is still significant, it could have been much worse considering how both teams have performed in that category.

One of the big performers on the boards wasn’t even a big guy and that’s Nebraska guard Thomas Allen, who had a second straight productive game. He tore down nine rebounds which helped make up for the fact that he scored only nine points and made three field goals.

The biggest key was limiting offensive rebounds. Minnesota still had 10, including five by Jordan Murphy, but the Huskers still finished with five and even though the Gophers got five extra possessions, the rebounding battle was close enough, Nebraska survived it to get the W.
