Nebraska basketball ended its seven-game losing streak last night against Minnesota and here are three key takeaways for the Huskers.

It wasn’t always pretty and the opposing head coach wasn’t happy about the way the game ended, but for the Nebraska basketball team, it didn’t matter. A win was a win.

Thanks to a pair of free throws in the final seconds by James Palmer, Nebraska escaped The Vault with a 62-61 win over the Golden Gophers and while the win certainly won’t save the Huskers season or anything like that, it certainly puts them in a lot better position, both in the Big Ten and for the postseason.

The game started out poorly for the Huskers, who fell down 10-3 in the first half, however, the Huskers rallied and took their first lead at 22-21 before going into the half trailing by one, 31-30.

However, when the second 20 minutes started, the Huskers came out firing. Palmer and Glynn Watson both connected on 3-pointers, which gave Nebraska basketball a 39-32 advantage.

Nebraska still led the game late, going up by four 59-55, however, the Gophers responded with a 6-0 run to go up 61-59. Palmer got NU within after making a free throw, then after another foul on the Gophers, Palmer made two more free throws with just over one second to go in order to win the game.

Richard Pitino was upset and thought his team got robbed by the officials, but Nebraska needed a win. Tim Miles needed a win and they got it and here is what it means.
