Nebraska football added a transfer in the way of former Michigan State punter William Przystup, who played in four games for Michigan State in 2018.

Over the years, Nebraska football has had some pretty strong kickers and punters and Monday, the Huskers got news of their latest addition at the position in the way of former Michigan State punter William Pryzstup, who is transferring to NU.

Pryzstup walked on for the Michigan State football program last season and started out as the No. 4 on the depth chart, but due to injuries, he was forced into the spotlight and held his own, he even punted in the Spartans loss to Nebraska football in 2018.

Pryzstup punted seven times during that loss and had two went over 50 yards and one that finished inside the 20-yard line. Overall, he punted 27 times for the Spartans and finished with an average of just over 40 yards a kick and got nine inside the 20, which is about a third of his attempts.

The move makes a lot of sense because the Huskers have two punters currently on the roster, Isaac Armstrong and Caleb Lightbourn. Armstrong eventually won the job last season, but the addition of Pryzstup will give Nebraska football a punter with starting experience in the Big Ten, which is a valuable thing. Pryzstup can also potentially do more than punt.

When he came out of high school, Pryzstup was also recruited as a kicker. In addition to walking on Michigan State, he also had offers from the Army and the Air Force. And the fact that the Huskers can add him without a scholarship makes it even better.

According to the Lincoln Journal Star, Pryzstup will sit out the 2019 season and then he will have three seasons of eligibility left because he played four games for Michigan State last season and under the new rules, that constitutes a played season if he had played only three games, he would have four seasons left.

Either way, it was a good addition. Nebraska football has added over 20 walk-ons for the 2019 recruiting class and even though Pryzstup is a walk-on, he’s a rare one with playing experience and that makes him a good addition for NU.
